AFC narrowly looses to bitter arch rivals Gor mahia
AFC Leopards expensive defence errors continue costing them dearly with Saturdays 2-3 loss against perennial archrivals Gor mahia adding to the statistics. Ingwe's imppressive start with a tenth minute penalty strike by Francis Xavier after Tafadzwa Dondo was brought down in the box was enough to distabilise Gormahia during the initial half hour, only for AFC's non communicating defence to give away an easy equalizer at the 31st minute. The goal somehow re-energized Gor's striking force with the ever dangerours Habil Otieno making impressive runs at Ingwe's goal mouth from time to time. The push resulted into Kogalo's second goal just before half time, but also as a result of a defensive error caused by Allan Ogal and Jackton Opanda who did not seem to be communicating with the goal keeper. Acting Coach Manoah's second half substitution that saw Farid replace an injured Sebestian Muchera bore fruits with Leopards coming out as the better side in this half. A penalty awarded to Gor in the 70th minute was saved by Leopards goalie Onyango only for the same defenders to give it a away to a Gor striker who was idling around the goalmouth, increasing Gor's advantage to three. But Ingwe's striking force kept on pushing with their energy and good flowing passes resulting into Ingwe's second goal in the 80th minute. By the time the game ended, Ingwe was looking like they could equalise anytime had the referee allowed them two or so stoppage time minutes. The passionate fans of Ingwe (donning the beutiful home replica jerseys), did not disappoint as they clearly outnumbered and outcheered Kogalo fans despite AFC being away. The Isukuti drums rent the air throughout the match with Ingwe fans urging on their team despite the narrow loss. More importantly, peace prevailed and both fans walked home together in harmony.Ingwe meets Sofapaka on Saturday 7th March at Kasarani Stadium.(posted on 2nd March)
