What a shame! What an anti climax! What a fallacy! As the relegation threatened AFC Leopards players murmur loudly over non payment of four months salary and allowances, the so called top club officials are shadow boxing each other in a protracted supremacy war. The two men charged with the responsibility of ensuring that AFC prevails have called for two separate press conferences today to expose each others misdeeds with the view to forcing each other out of office. While secretary Robert Asembo accusses Ochiel of inaction and mismanagement of club, chairman Julius Ochiel is up in arms with Asembo for pre-medidating his exit. Caught in between are the un-motivated players who have threatened to boycot training and playing unless fully compensated for the four months in arrears. Club treasurer, Amin Walji is also caught up in between, with close confidants linking him to the Asembo faction. Another unseen player in the mess is one Micah Luvutse, who masquaredes as executive director, in itself, an amorphous undefined position not provided for in the constitution. Micah is said to belong to Ochiel side and has been accussed by club insiders like the branches coordinator Joash Wamukalia for pocketing Kshs 20,000 per month office rent money when the purported AFC "office" actually belongs and is paid for by his employer, a Research company operating at Hurlingham. All this is happening despite a crucial FKL knockout match against Thika United on Saturday at Nyayo Stadium. What is even more worrying is the fact that non of the wrangling officials is thinking of settling the players salaries to divert the impending strike by players. Should genuine supporters and members of the club read a sinister motive to push the club out of top flight yet again? The same happened six years ago when the club was patronised by a notorious Western Kenya legislator who is also the defactor patron of the current office. Is there a trend in all the happenings? If anything should happen to save this great club, then it has to happen now. Is there anyone out there listening? (posted on Thursday 2/9/10 at 10am by Ingwe Reporter?
