AFC Leopards gradual drift to the dreaded relegation zone seem unstoppable with yesterday's painful loss to low rated Sony Sugar FC at home. The 1-0 debacle makes Leopards the worst performing premier league club in the second leg of the KPL, having lost four matches out of total six and drawn and won once each. Ingwe now lies at position 11 in the standing out of 16 teams with nine matches to go. The difference between the basement club, Chemelil Sugar FC and Leopards is a measly 6 points. The dismal performance has rekindled infighting in the management of the team with two camps accusing each other for the dwindling fortunes. Immediately after the Sony match at Nyayo, one camp that attended the match seemed to lay blame on the missing camp led by the chairman for poor leadership. At the hazedly convened kamukunji at the stadium with blood baying fans, it also emerged that players have gone for three months without full salary, demoralising their pysche for the worse. The recently signed coach Robert Matano also seemed to have issues with a section of players whom he dismisses as substandard and also accusses a section of the management for not being worth leaders. A group of appalled fans while demanding for answers for poor performance from the secretary and treasuer called for the immediate resignation of the chairman for running down the club. "Truth be told, the problem with AFC is the chairman and unless he goes, nothing is gonna change," said Makokha, an ardent fan of Leopards. Several other supporters concurred, fearing that the poor streak might condemn the club to relegation and oblivion.(posted on 23/8/10 at 10am by Ingwe reporter)
