Demonte Demolishes KCB

It can correctly be labelled as the most thrilling Kenya premier league match this season. And yet others would like to term it a Demonte Selenga vs KCB Match. But I beg to run with the "Matano midas touch show". That's what we are talking about. This man matano is surely the medicine the doctor prescribed for AFC Leopards. In just four days at the helm of the former lethargic Ingwe, the Kenya soccer magician has completely changed the way business is done in the youthful squad. This man has managed to instil discpline, character, urgency and purpose in the squad that for many months went without any sort of leadership. That he has managed to triple the team's work rate in the shortest time is a text book story to be studdied by many in the emerging KPL. And the results are there to be seen by all. No wonder AFC staged the greatest come back of all time this season to edge out KCB 4-3 at City Stadium on Sunday to re-ignite the team's hopes of claiming a respectable position in the KPL standing. The results have pushed it up four places from 10th to 7th position out of 16 teams. Back to Demonte Selenga, the Congolese import. He deserved to be the day's captain as he scored a hat trick in the 24th minute, 59th and 80th minute to cancel KCB's three goals. And it was coach Matano who instructed Nigerian import Harry Gentle to take the last minute set piece for Leopards instead of Martin Imbalambala who had already taken position. And Harry didn't hurry but instead gently blasted the "javulani or is it jujulani" to the far corner of the goal as KCB's goalie saw stars. As excited Ingwe fans entered a frenzy in praise of coach Robert Matano, pundits started wondering why it took the management so long to send former coach Makokha packing even when it was obvious that his style of coaching had been over-taken by events. To sustain such good performance, the leadership of Leopards must now put its act together and make the playing and technical units comfortable. They must know that Matano does not take flimsy excuses when it comes to compensation and he will surely expose them it they fail to meet their end of bargain. The Supporters of Leopards are behind the new coach and are keenly watching.(posted on 26/7/10 by Ingwe Reporter)
