Ochiel seeks to extent his stay in office

The much anticipated review of the AFC Leopards Sports Club ended up in a low as a section of the incumbent turned the otherwise a good document into a personal gratification tool purporting to extent their stay in office for three more years without seeking the fresh mandate of bonafide members in a general election. The special general meeting that took place at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday was a master piece of stage management with the chairman Julius Ochiel reading riot act for the presumed "ditractors" as a preamble before urging on his couched review chaparon one Mukhwana to take the stage-managed crowd through the ducument. Within minutes after the highlights, the chairman was back on stage to seek an acclamation approval of the document. But that would still be okay if it ended there since the review had captured various reasonable ammemdments including legalising the branch network and extenting the tenure of office to three years instead of the current 1 year to take effect after the next Annual General Meeting scheduled for December 2010. But the eye-hawked and calculating Ochiel could not let that pass as he influenced the review chairman to announce that the ammendments should take effect immediately meaning that he and his office would now serve for three years instead of one without seeking fresh mandate from bonafide members in an AGM planned for December 2010. That controversial declaration threatened to disrupt the meeting as a few independent members led by a Nairobi businessman Naphtally Ambetsa harshly protested the illegality."The new rules can only be effected after the forthcoming annual general meeting in December when officials  should seek fresh mandate in conformity with the ammendements," lamented Ambetsa as he struggled in vain to educate the stage-managed mob that was not privy to the proceedings of the day. Conspicously absent were the other office bearers of the club including the treasurer Amin Warji,  vice chairman deputy mayor George Aladwa and members-coordinator Joash Wamugalia whom grape vine has it that he has fallen out with the chairman. But present and tottaly ignored was Kenya's soccer legend Joe Kadenge and a handful of bonafide members including CBD chairman Mike Meso and national fans coordinator Fred Lutta who were sidelined from contribution after being labelled agents of the former office. As the meeting came to a close, it was not clear which document would be presented to the registrar of societies as no copies of ammendments were circulated to the present mob nor bonafide members. But this being Kenya and AFC for that matter, anything and everything is possible. All eyes on the registrar once more. (posted on 28/6/2010 by Ingwe Reporter)
