Buoyed by the morale boosting win against bitter arch-rivals Gor mahia FC last week, AFC Leopards squeezed a crucial point from Chemelil FC away on Saturday to assure themselves a position in the top ten as the KPL's first leg comes to a close. Rooted at position 5, Ingwe hopes that Sofapaka, Gor mahia and City Stars, the three teams with mathematical possibilities of dislodging it from the fifth position fail to capitalise on the advantage in their matches at hand. The Chemelil match ended in a 1-1 draw as both teams approached the match with caution. The draw means that AFC is through with the 1st leg fixtures of 15 matches with 21 points. Meanwhile, the famous derby of Kenya that saw Ingwe run away with the bragging rights, registered the biggest attendance in the recent times with a record breaking Ksh 1.2 million realised from gate collections. Fearing misappropriation of funds by some long handed uncouth officials, Leopards omni-present and hawk eyed treasurer Amin Warji moved fast to re-direct all the funds to the players' salary kitty and settled the April salary and allowance balances.(posted on Sunday 8am by Ingwe Reporter)
