The Ingwe-Kogalo coalition Officially Over

AFC Leopards salvaged one point in a 1-1 foul tempered match against League deputants Posta Rangers at City Stadium on Sunday. The encounter, the second in a Kpl double header that saw perennial archrivals loose 1-0 to KCB in the days opener, also marked the official end of a loose coalition with Kogalo who were infuriated for Leopard's fans failure to moan with them at the painful lose. Leopards were the first one's to concede a first half goal through a well taken free kick by former Leopards striker Patrick Kathiani now doing service for the mail men, to the delight of Gor fans who stayed put to cheer Posta Rangers in a revenge mission. As all looked lost for the former champions who lacked flair and purpose infront of a mammoth crowd, Kenya international Martin Imbalabala rose to the occassion in the dying minutes to drive home a sizzling volley from a 22 metre spot kick. The equaliser sent Isukuti dancing excited Ingwe fans into ectasy, and for a good reason by their own standards to tout dejected Gormahia fans with the infamous circumcission clarion call. Kogalo fans replied back by flashing the abhored chicken flapping sign that almost degenerated into a fight for all. But thank God sobriety prevailed infront of a tense Prime Minister Raila Odinga who had sat pensively to watch two halfs of both matches. The rivalry definately set the stage ripe for the forth coming crunch match between the two bitter archrivals dubbed the Derby of Kenya to go down on Wednesday 26th May at Nyayo Stadium under flood lights.(posted on 17/5/10 at 9am by Raba D'Cruz)
