Imbem Scores a Brace to Lift AFC

Congolese import Itubu Imbem scored a brace to ensure that AFC Leopards collected the maximum 3 points in a tightly contested mid week clash with basement club Mahakama FC. The first goal was netted by Ingwe's on-and-off-form striker in the 30 minute in a goal mouth melee after a corner kick to put Leopards ahead. The 15 minutes lead was however cancelled in the 1st minute of second half by Mahakama's Joseph Ngugi before Imbem netted in a penalty ten minutes before the full time as a result of a handball in the Mahakama's box area. The all important win has elevated AFC to the 9th position on the standing from 13th and given it the much needed impetus to tackle Naivasha's Karuturi Sports away on Saturday. The win was largely inspired by Ingwe's 12th player in the name of a huge, boisterous and result demanding fan base that piled preassure on the team and bench to give results. At one time, fanatical fans were heard demanding for substitution after unconvincing performance by a few players, and in deed they got their wish when Nigerian import Ekene Umekwe stepped in to revitilise the striking force.(posted on 29/4/10 at 10am by Raba D'Cruz)
