AFC Leopards website has hit the unassailable quarter a million hits per month in less than two years from the launch. The increase represents a whopping 53% jump from the 132,442 hits registered the same period last year, making the portal the most popular sports website in Kenya and the region by extension. The exponential increase of the number of visitors to the website can be attributed to the raising popularity of the club after successfully shaking off relegation worries at the end of last season and winning the FKL Cup to qualify for the Confederation championship, coupled with impressive run at the young Kenya Premier League. The hits translate into 60,000 per week and 8,500 per day. Visitors from Kenya lead at 55% with the USA visitors coming second at 14% followed by UK at a distant 3%. In Africa, most hits are registered from Tanzania at 1% followed by South Africa at 0.8%. The portal has registered an accumulative 2.5 million hits since inception in August 2008 with more than 80% connections being derived from google followed by yahoo at a distant 10%.(posted on 22/3/10 by Raba D'Cruz)
