Ingwe Impresses Despite Lose

FKL Champions AFC Leopards went down fighting in an exciting 1-0 Supersport Championship Cup encounter against FKL winners Sofapaka at Nyayo Stadium. Sofapaka's loan goal was netted in the 17th minute by the new signing Humphrey Miano who took advantage of a costly defensive lapse. The win gifted Sofapaka with Kshs 500,000 prize money and a trophy with Leopards taking home Kshs 250,000 consolation prize. Despite the lose, the new look Leopards side displayed great skill giving Sofapaka a run for its money. New head coach Chris Makokha congratulated his youthful side for a spirited fight and promised to focus on sharpening his striking force which wasted many scoring chances created by the cohesive midfield.The well attended 2010 season opener lived up to its billing by providing world class entertainment to fanatical Ingwe loyalists and the public at large. Special mention goes to new signing AFC goal keeper Webo who showed a lot of character between the posts. In the midfiled, youthful Wainaina signed from JMJ academy combined well with veteran Francis Xavier to check Sofapaka's marauding striking force of Baraza and Mugalia.AFC meets Ethiopia's Banks at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday 14th February in the CAF cup challenge first round at 4PM.
