Ingwe Impresses Despite Lose

FKL Champions AFC Leopards went down fighting in an exciting 1-0 SuperSport Championship Cup encounter against KPL champions Sofapaka FC. The mouthwatering match marked the begining of the KPL 2010 season and gifted the winner with Kshs 500,000 prize money with the losers getting Kshs 250,000. Sofapaka's winning goal came early in the match when new signing Humphrey Miano took advantage of Ingwe's defensive lapse to slot in one in the 17th minute. But it was Leopards strikers that should take the blame for failing to utilize the many scoring chances created by the rejuvenated new look team under the guidance of seasoned coach Chris Makokha. The well attended match lived to its billing as both teams showed clear signs of wanting to lift the cup.Despite the pre season leadership wrangles that bedevilled the Leopards, the youthful side gave Sofapaka a run for its money and proved to many sceptics that Ingwe is a team to watch in this new season.Ingwe meets Banks from Ethiopia on Sunday 14th February at Nyayo Stadium in the CAF cup preliminaries.(posted on 8/02/2010 by Raba D'Cruz)
