AFC INTERIM MANAGEMENT BOARD IN CHARGE
Following a leadership vacuum as a result of AFC Leopards playing and technical units’ denouncement of the office that controversially plotted a coup and assumed office illegally, the legitimate executive committee of the club under the chairmanship of Alex Magelo constituted an Interim Management Board (IMB) on 7th January 2010. To increase participatory space, the committee has incorporated credible personalities across the country to come up with a strong 20 member board. Members of the board are Alex Magelo, Brown Ondego, Joseph Oyula, George Wesonga, Richard Ekhalie, Duncan Angode, Patrick Keyondzo, Maurice Amahwa, Naphtally Ambetsa, Wellington Maleche, Fred Lutta, Collins Ojiambo, Walter Onyino, Joseph Masika, Victor Mwanga, Vance Udoto, Nassur Hassa, Dr Walela and Rodney Sultani. The mandate of the board will be to run the affairs of the club for six months before recommending either:
- To transform the club into a corporate entity to attract investment and sponsorship, or
- To call for legitimate elections under the current legal structure.
Consequently, the board has called on both the playing and technical units to report for training on Monday 11th of January from 9AM at Ikulu Grounds under the supervision of coach Nick Yakhama and all players including the players that the disgruntled renegade “office” that suffered public humiliation and vote of no confidence from all stakeholders purports to have suspended. To avoid confusion, the IMB has warned the imposters to keep off from the playing and technical units and not to purport to represent this great club in any forum. The interim board will outline its road map in a week’s time as the teams embarks on serious training and completion of recruitment in preparation for the super cup and CAF in February.
