Young Leopards Thumb MYSA Githurai

AFC Academy under 14 continued their winning streak by beating the more experienced MYSA Githurai two goals to one in an entertaining curtain raiser at City Stadium on Kenyatta Day. The win set the pace for the senior team that later on demolished Congo United to lift the coveted FKL Cup and usher Ingwe back into continental championship. Although MYSA saw the net first in the 6th minute, the young Leopards equalised two minutes later through utility striker Gerald Atila. But it was the ensuing one- two move that saw young Leopards ran circles at the already beaten MYSA defense to snatch a winner two minutes before the end of the match. Barely six months old, the academy has been causing ripples in the local sports scene having won all the six friendly matches it has played. The team has been curtain raising for the senior team in selected matches to horn skills and test players at the bigger arena. As the team left the pitch, it received a standing ovation from the excited AFC fans who had thronged the stadium to witness the senior team thumb Congo United. AFC goodwill ambassadeur Papa Shirandula gifted the youthful players with some money for lunch in appreciation of the good work. "This is the future of Leopards," he said as he paused for pictures with the excited players
