AFC Youth Academy to Curtian Raise FKL Cup

AFC Leopards Youth Academy takes on Kibera United in a curtain raising under fourteen friendly match moments before the FKL Cup semis at City Stadium on Saturday 3rd October. The match kicks off at 2PM for twenty minutes each half in the first of the many such curtain raising matches pitying the academy and many other youth teams. Leopards under fourteen side has been in existence for the past three months and trains on weekends at the club's Ikulu grounds in Kilimani. It is couched by Fred Aswani who has alot of experience in youth training having acted in the same capacity at Ligi Ndogo and Ulinzi Academy.The youth academy is one of the progressive ideas that have been introduced by the management to identify and nurture excellent talent in soccer at a tender age with the view to feeding the senior team with baked players. Two schemes exist thus schorlarship program and self funded program. Whereas the former gives 100% sponsorhip to talented youths with no financial ability, the latter admits interested youths who pay for the services. The academy charges Kshs 4,000 per youth per month. A total of 18 students have been admitted ranging from 8 to 14 years. (report on 2nd Oct 2009)
