Gordon Mweresa and Edwin Sakwa are the latest members to enter into the elite Subcription Membership Program (SMP) pushing the total number of subscribing members to six since inception two weeks ago.The slow convertion of AFC supporters into subscribing members is still a disappointment bearing in mind that hundreds of fans have been pushing the management to unveil channels where they could add value to the club. That informed the launch of the Mpesa line(0726544155) and Zap line(0733817735) for members to utilize in monthly contributions of Kshs 1,000 or more to help finance the club's monthly budget in excess of one million shillings. The program targets to net minimum 1000 members grossing not less than Kshs 1,000,000 per month. Subscribers stand to benefit from free season tickets, 10% discounts on club merchandise and will have their contributions converted into equity when the club goes corporate next season. Meanwhile, Mlango Kubwa members branch has announced plans to reactivate itself on Saturday at City Stadium moments before the FKL semis kick off. Ibrahim Musine, an interim official said that they will be getting compliant on Saturday and take leardership in branch matters in Nairobi. That will make the total number of branches to be registered to four countrywide. Others are Mombasa branch, Nakuru branch and Emuhaya branch. For registration, a branch needs to pay Kshs 10,000 branch fee and must register not less than 10 members each paying Kshs 1,000. Despite the machoness and hype amongst fans in the capital city, no branch in Nairobi has been officially registered, another big disappointment from the boisterous Ingwe fans who must now start walking the talk. "Gone are the days when branches used to exist by name," said AFC treasurer Dancan Angode. He challenged the many branches that wont to publicise existence to stand up and be counted and help the club meet its budgetary obligations. On paper, AFC has more than 100 branches in Kenya alone.(posted on 28th Sep)
