Ingwe in FKL Cup Semis on Saturday
AFC Leopards chance to make a return to continental championship comes this Saturday on 3rd October when it faces Nationwide side Nairobi Stima in the semi finals of the knockout FKL tournament. The encounter will take place at 3PM at City Stadium in Nairobi in what pundits are now terming a must win for Ingwe, especially now buoyed by an impressive run in the Kenya premier league. Coach Nick Yakhama has however taken a precautionary approach and warned his side against being complacent. "The Nairobi Stima is no walk in the park and we are not taking any chances," he said at the Ikulu training grounds during the Monday's session. Nairobi Stima beat defending champions Gor Mahia two goals to nil at the same venue and is a side that is in contention for a slot in top flight soccer next season. But Ingwe's current form and conviction after hammering Ulinzi Stars and disuniting Mathare FC over the weekend has made the passionate fans all over the world believe that the team deserves a place at the finals and eventually at the continental stage. If AFC goes through the semis, it will meet the winner in the other semi finals in the finals to be staged on Kenyatta Day on the 20th of October.Leopard's Secretary General and head of marketing and Publicity, Richard Ekhalie, called on the club's huge fan base to turn up in huge numbers to support their team at City Stadium. "Lets fill City Stadium and escort our team to continental soccer where we belong," said Ekhalie.(report on 28th Sep 2009)
