Unity of Purpose

The just concluded super sunday pitying Kenyan soccer giants AFC Leopards and Gormahia against Sher Karuturi and Sofapaka respectively, ushered in a new face of club support. Whereas Gor fans conducted an impromptu fundraiser to collect Kshs 80,000 towards players' welfare, Ingwe fans, both young and old, donned the now trade mark home jerseys to tell the whole world where their loyalty lies. But it was the coalition support adapted by both Kogelo and Ingwe fans to support each other against their competition that stole the show. During the early match between Ingwe and Sher, Kogelo's vuvuzela blowing fans joined Ingwe isukuti dancing fans to drum up support for Leopards. The gesture was equally reciprocated by Ingwe fans who drummed their isukutis in support of Gor throughout kogelo's match against Sofapaka under floodlights. Realizing that they are bound together by history and fate, the two otherwise bitter arch rivals forged a rare unity to face competition on Sunday, and promised to continue supporting each other until both clubs excel. "Kenyan soccer will go nowhere without Ingwe and Kogelo, reason for our joint operation," said a Gor diehard fan privy to the coalition strategy. Papa Shirandula, Ingwe's goodwill ambassador who coordinated the Ingwe side, applauded the initiative saying that the two biggest clubs in Kenya need each other to survive.
