Ingwe Thrills But Share Points
AFC Leopards blew away several chances to settle for a nil all draw with lethargic Nairobi City Stars at Nyayo Stadium on 22nd August 2009.Ingwe lads did all there can be done in a game of soccer apart from scoring despite the more than a dozen clear scoring chances that came their way. Captain Charles Okwemba did not make things any better by firing wide a 35th minute penalty kick that could have given the homeside the early lead. The man of the match was the dimunitive attacking modfielder Georson Likono who kept City Stars defence running for the entire match. He produced several fine crosses that went begging at the goalmouth including the stoppage time's volley that saw Captain Okwemba hit the woodwork to the disappointment of many Ingwe fans who were mind set for a clear win. AFC Leopards defence line was solid with Francis Xavier doing a mervolous job at falling back. With a packed midfield, Ingwe pinned the visitors in their own half reducing the on-form goal keeper Victor Omondi into a spectator of sorts. City Stars' only chance came in the 80th minute when George Odari failed to tap home a fine pass by Jimmy Baggaye. Coach Nick Yakhama said that he was satified with the result although he wished to have collected the maximum three points. "We enjoyed more that 70% position and the boys can only blame themselves for not winning the match", he said.(posted on 23rd August 2009"
