AFC cramble against Sofapaka
AFC Leopards went down four goals to one against Sofapaka FC at Kasarani Stadium over the weekend in one of the matches Ingwe fraternity would love to forget. The encounter not only exposed Leopards' weakness at the backline but also showed a serious disconnect in the midfield. Whereas the double striking force of Harambee Stars latest call ups Frankline Obare and Denis Mukaisi showed some fire power especially at the beginning, it was the numerous missed chances that condemned the former giants to oblivion. Taking in four goals was the biggest loss for Ingwe this season and it will require self believe amongst players to rise obove the loss to claim a stake in the next emcounter with long time arch rivals Gor Mahia on 8th of August. Ingwe's lone goal was netted in by captain Charles Okwemba in the 30th minute to cancel Sofapaka's 5th minute goal. Several defensive errors and lack of concentration in the entire team would later open a floodgate of goals that saw the youthful players crample beyond repair. The technical bench would need to work over time to propel the team back to winning ways. They may be forced to do away with Kevin Shigogodi at position three that has constantly let in goals since the begining of the second leg. Nick Yakhama and Twahir Muhidin may also be forced to reorganise the entire defense and midfield and inspire the boys to win at least six of the remaining eleven matches to avoid relegation.(report on 26th July 2009)
