AFC Leopards Branch network revival has started in earnest with Mombasa branch being the first branch to reactivate itself. The coast promoters took advantage of the Ingwe Mombasa trip to relaunch their branch on 4th July after the AFC vs Bandari encounter. The extremely organised and energised branch hosted the national office and Nairobi travelling supporters to a delicious dinner at an exclusive restaurant at Jomvu Kuu where the ceremony took place. A list of branch officials was presented to the national Secretary General, Richard Ekhalie, who welcomed the new office aboard and promised to involve them in all matters AFC Leopards. " I salute you for taking leadership in branch network revival", he said as he presented official member registration booklets to the new branch chairman, Mr Maurice Amahwa. Other branch officials present at the fete were Vitalis Wanyama (Organising Secretary), Wellington Maleche (ass. Secretary general) and Chris Mugeni (Committee member). The branch's vice chairman, Armstrong Mukoya sent apologies. To re-activate a branch, one needs to register not less than ten members and pay minimum Kshs 10,000 as branch affiliation fee per year. Each member must also pay Kshs 1,000 annual membership fee as an ordinary member or Kshs 5000 for super membership. Whereas ordinary members can view for elective posts at branch level, only super members can contest at national level. AFC Leopards has more than 50 branches countrywide although inactive for now. While accepting his position as chairman of the Mombasa branch, Mr Amahwa said that he will strive to make the Mombasa branch the most vibrant branch of all. " I promise to bring on board very able members who can participate in mobilizing funds for the club" he said.(report on 13th July 2009)
