AFC Legends captained by Josphat "Controller" Murila piped Papa Sirandula select one nil to earn the Madaraka Day bragging rights in one of the action packed AFC Leopards 45th anniversary celebrations at Nyayo Stadium on Monday. The well attended match also acted as a curtain raiser for the main AFC triliasts match against Posta Rangers where the former lost three to two to the postmen. Among the other great names that turned up for AFC Legends are JJ Masiga (coach), Tony Mkombozi Lidonde, Ben Musuku, Sunguti, Peter Lichungu and Muhati. Composed mainly of media personalities, Papa Shirandula's featured the likes of himself, Gidi Gidi, Okinyi, Allan Namisi and Victor Mwanga among others. Bringing back the old nolstagic memories, the legends team displayed sexy football with accurate passes that caught the oponents napping most of the time. The only goal of the match came in the 10th minute when Sunguti planted a hot shot into the net from the end of the box. Although enjoying themselves, the Papa's side lacked any sense of coordination and looked fatigued from the onset. Excited fans at the terraces would be seen calling for Papa Shirandula's name whenever the burly celebrity came closer to the ball. His only touch was intercepted by the ever steady Murila who ran circles around him to send the stadium into a laughter. A major fundraising for AFC is planned this Friday the 5th of June at Nairobi Railways Club from 6PM to raise Kshs 3 million to recruit new players. Entrance is Kshs 500 each.
