AFC Trialists Go Down Fighting

trialistsAFC Leopards trialiats lost two to three goals against Posta Rangers in an entertaining Madaraka Day friendly at Nyayo National Stadium. The much hyped and well attended match saw AFC field an all new team of 18 players on trial giving a chance to the technical bench and fans to examine the talent at hand for eventual selection for the second leg kicking off in July. AFC's first goal was scored at the begining of second half through a powerful volley several yards away from the goal line by the new Congolese sensation Laurent Tumba. Ingwe had trailed two goals to nil at half time and the goal lifted the spirits of the new team to take firm control of the second half. A miscalculation by the goalkeeper gifted Rangers for the third goal in the 70th minute, but a quick reaction from Bonny Lichito on the penalty spot saved face for the youthful Ingwe trialists after a good run from centre to the finish line. At the end of the match, the passionate Ingwe fans who had turned up in large numbers as usual gave the new team a standing ovation satisfied that the right talent to deliver results has finally been found."This is a good team and with proper coaching we can compete well in the second leg", said Victor Bwibo, an ardent Ingwe fanatic who has followed the team for the past twenty years. Coach Manoah said that the new lads are full of talent and is confident of winning majority of the remaining matches. The team manager veteran Tony Lidonde said that with the new boys, relegation should never be mentioned anywhere near him as he is confident of turning in impressive results. AFC will use the June transfer window to inject fresh blood in its team that posted dismal results in the first leg managing only 10 points after 15 matches.
