AFC Salvages a Point against Ulinzi Stars

AFC Leopards shared a point each with visiting Ulinzi Stars at the weekends one all draw at Coca cola Stadium to increase its tally to 8 points from 12 matches. The match that started on a high note levelled out mid first half with both teams playing cautiously. But it was AFC's defensive error that led to Ulinzi's first goal in the 27th minuted when left wing back Jackton Opanda's feeble back pass was intercepted by a marauding Ulinzi striker to find the back of the net. AFC came out more purposeful in the second half after the head coach's peptalk with more raids at Ulinzi's goal mouth. Their effors were rewarded in the 66th minute through a set piece volley by Collins Kisuya who played his heart out to ensure that Ingwe salvages a point. The equaliser cooled tempers of the charged AFC fanatical supporters who had been rattled by the earlier goal by Ulinzi. With three matches remaining before the end of the first leg, AFC hopes to register atleast two wins and a draw to lift off the basement of the premier standing. The head coach Edward Manoah admits that the task ahead is daunting, but is confident that his youthfull team is equal to the task. "I urge our supporters to be patient with us and promise to prevail", he said. AFC meets Thika United on Sunday at Thika at 3PM.
