The march towards 1,000 AFC Leopards paid up members has begun in earnest with several enquiries on the registration process reaching our office just afew days after sending the clarion call. According to the equiries, the rush has been ignited by the recent confirmation by the leadership that the corporate agenda is still on course with the October 1st 2009 deadline still in force and focus. Two member categories exist thus ordinary and super paying Kshs 1,000 and Kshs 5,000 respectively per member per year. Come October 2009 when the club is scheduled to transform into a corporate legal entity, only members will qualify to buy shareholding. However, the members who will sign up in the monthly contribution scheme of either Kshs 1,000 or Kshs 5,000 according but not limited to registered categories, will have their contributions turned into equity. The monthly contribution scheme has been sanctioned by the leardership to help bridge the huge budget deficit approximated at Kshs 10 million per year. When through, the corporate structure will elevate AFC to a higher, credible and progressive legal status at par with other successful and respected clubs in the world like Arsenal (EPL), Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa and Kampala City Council nearer home in Uganda. With each of the 1,000 members contributing a minimum of Kshs 1,000 per month, the club will be able to raise at least Kshs 1 million per month, and thus able to run its programs smoothly and thus more likely to post impressive results at the end of the league season. A well performing club in the new corporate dispensation is expected to turn in a profit for shareholders (read members). The question is are you a signed up member?
