AFC Members' Forums acquire Traction
The recently launched Friday Members Forums at Enzogu Restaurant in Nairobi have acquired the much needed traction with as many as twenty new members either registering or expressing intentions of registering as members each forum day. The last such forum went down last Friday the 13th of March with attendees oozing optimism about the future of this great club. The forum saw the re-energization of the corporate agenda with members resolving to start making monthly contributions of Kshs 1,000 (ordinary members) and Kshs 5,000 (Super members) with immediate effect. For easy administration, the club is developing committment forms to be preseneted by members to their banks authorising them (banks) to effect a check-off proceedure transferring the specified amounts to the AFC bank account. Members are however free to use other proceedures including but not limited to M-Pesa money transfer, electronic transfers, direct bank deposits, office cash/cheque deliveries etc. The contributions will then be converted into equity come October 2009 when the club is expected to adopt a corporate structure in conformity with the previous AGM/s resolution. The constitution review committe was consequently empowered to entrench the corporate clause in its body to pave the way for the transformation. The forum set an ambitious target of registering at least 1,000 members in both categories with the view to raising Kshs 1 million per month to meet the club's budget deficit. The forum also passed that paid up members of the club will be holding members only sessions over a drink after each home match at the VIP lounge of home stadium to discuss the welfare of the club. Revenues generated from the hospitality service will be channeled towards the playing unit maintanence. Two more committees were formed thus Sales & Martketing and Media/publicity. Next forum day is this Friday the 20th at 4PM at Enzogu Restaurant Mombasa road Nairobi. (posted on 16th March 2009)
