Ingwe grabs second point in a one all draw against Sofapaka

AFC Leopards bagged its second point of the young league in a one all draw against the overated Sofapaka last Saturday at Kasarani Stadium. But it was the referees refusal to award the on-form Leopards a clear second goal in the 30th minute that baffled all who attended the lively match. "How can an on-goal be an offside" wondered Leopard's Treasurer Duncan Angode as he watched in disbelief as the centre referee in collusion with the second referee pointed at the offside spot for a free kick. Early on in the 24th minute, the referee had also denied Leopards a clear penalty when Ahmed Farid was dangerously brought down in the box by a Sofapaka defender. Ingwe had taken an early lead in the 20th minute through a powerful volley from Jackton Opanda who signalled Ingwe's intention in the match. As AFC outplayed the visitors who looked dis-oriented throughout the first half, Sofapaka looked up in the second half squeezing in an equaliser moments before the end of the match. On the terraces, Ingwe diehards clad in the teams home colour replica jerseys, cheered their team non stop as Isukuti drums rent the air, save for loud noise from a handful of Sofapaka "fans" for hire druming profusely. The same fans had distructed the players when they shamelessly matched on the pitch to their seats as the match progressed, forcing Ingwe fans to protest the illegal behaviour.
